چکیده

This review attempts to present the current understanding of the mechanism of pitting corrosion of heat treatable aluminium alloys and their welds. The role of alloying elements and intermetallic phases on the corrosion behavior of these alloys has been discussed. Pitting mechanism of aluminiumcopper alloys is specifically discussed. Finally effect of welding on the pitting corrosion of these alloys is also presented.

Microstructure and mechanical characteristics of dissimilar aluminium alloy joining employing gas tungsten arc welding

Despite the increased use of aluminium alloys in several industries, their common concern is the difficulty of joining dissimilar alloys using welding techniques. Based on this, the primary purpose of this research is to assess the mechanical characteristics of dissimilar joining of heat-treatable 6061 and non-heat-treatable 5083 aluminium alloys by gas tungsten arc welding and to discover the ...

The Strength of Friction Stir Welded and Friction Stir Processed Aluminium Alloys

Local strength of friction stir (FS) welds and FS processed aluminium alloys in heat treatable aluminium alloys is dominated by precipitation hardening. Strengthening due to stored dislocations is generally limited to 40MPa, and grain size strengthening is generally less than 10MPa. Local crystallographic texture can cause yield strength variation on the order of 5%. Published models for streng...
